This very high-end golf course is located in the heart of Tianjin, a bustling port city of 10 million people, close to the capital of Beijing. With comments and ideas from 27 major championship winners, the architectural firms headed by Beau Welling and Thomas McBroom developed a unique design capable of hosting major golf tournaments. The existing mature trees and various water features provided inspiration for the design and the end result is 27 holes that can be configured in a variety of ways to create courses for small, mid-size, and major tournament events. At 7,764 the major tournament layout was chosen for its overall length, quality of routing and ability to accommodate the logistical needs of a “big” event. It will challenge the golfers not only in terms of length but also finesse and creative shot making.
