When the Granite Golf Club, Toronto's finest athletic and social club, decided to add golf to their program they chose Tom McBroom to lead them. McBroom shepherded the project from the land acquisition and through the arduous environmental approval process. Situated in the Oak Ridges Moraine northeast of Toronto on about 235 acres, McBroom designed a classically themed course with elements of modern environmental design. The course plays over and around some 100 acres of protected wetlands. The strong collection of distinct holes proves that world-class golf can co-exist with strict conservation and environmental regulation. Holes two through eight imaginatively weave through the wetland forest providing an exhilaratingly unique experience. The back nine is a more traditional layout through hardwood forest and meadow building to an increasingly exciting finale.
